Tonight: Jad Fair “Celebrate the Celebration”

Tonight Hiromart gallery is holding a reception for the Austin-based artist and musician Jad Fair. Jad Fair is best known as a co-founder for the legendary alternative rock band Half Japanese. Released over 50 records, including collaborations, many number of publications and also he is featured in two films; The Devil And Daniel Johnston” (2005) and Half Japanese: The Band That Would Be King (1993). With his music career of over 3 decades, he also showed another talent for painting and paper cutting through art shows.

Roentgenwerke AG will be showing new works by Motohiro Tomii. Reception for the artist will be held March 4th, 6-8pm. The show will be on through February 26th.

This Friday: Misa Shin Gallery Opening

Following Ai Weiwei’s inaugural installation Cube Light Misa Shin will be showing a selection of works by a Korean photographer Back Seung Woo. The exhibition entitled Blow Up will feature some haunting images shot in North Korea. It is scheduled to run though April 16. For more information visit the gallery website.

Beatriz Inglessis Tarot Series Video

Beatriz Inglessis is a Tokyo-based printmaker currently in the art Ph.D. program at Geidai (Tokyo University of the Arts). “The Way of the Fool” is a video of an installation she did for her MFA (also at Geidai). You can see more of Beatriz’ work on her webpage.
